If the guides contain material from world-class sources, why can't I go directly to those sources?
You can. You might want to alert your bank manager first.
Are the booklets available as printed books (on paper)?
No. Booklets are downloaded to your PC, as pdf files.You can save or print them yourself, as you wish. You can choose any combination of booklets to suit your needs. Alternatively, you can purchase the complete set on CD, which we will send to you by post.
What format are the files? Do I need special software to read them?
Each booklet consists of a zip file containing cover artwork and text in PDF file format. The PDF files can be read using Adobe Acrobat (or Adobe Reader). The zip files vary in size from 750KB to 2000KB.
Many PCs are supplied from new with Winzip and a pdf reader pre-installed. If you don't yet have them...

Are the booklets available on CD-ROM?
Yes. The design-bites CD contains the complete set of booklets in pdf format. Please email us for prices and payment arrangements. CDs are sent by international airmail.
How do I pay for the booklets I order?
Online: Choose the booklets you wish to order and add them to your shopping basket. When ready, click on 'view basket', and follow the payment instructions. The website will take you to a secure (PayPal) payments page. You will be returned to the design-bites website when payment is complete.
CD-ROM: To order the CD, please email us first for prices and payment advice. Payment is normally via PayPal, but we can accept international cheques from colleges and bona fide companies.
What is PayPal?
PayPal is a safe, quick and convenient way to buy goods across international borders, and eliminates the bank surcharges associated with international cheques. Anyone who uses eBay will be familiar with PayPal.
Do I need a PayPal account to make a payment?
If you don't have an existing account, PayPal will offer you the option to make a one-off payment by checking your credit / debit card. Registration with PayPal is free.

Pay for purchases in your selected currency - payment is automatically converted to the seller's currency. We recommend that you investigate the availability of PayPal in your region - insert 'PayPal' into your search engine.
I completed an order, but havent received my download links email.
It is rare, but problems can be caused by mis-spelled email addresses, by slow email servers, by network faults, or by badly set anti-spam software (which mis-interprets the links email as an advert or 'spam'). If your 'links' email doesnt arrive in your inbox within a few minutes, you can download directly from the site as follows:
- Go to the design-bites HOME page and click 'log in' (top right hand corner of home page).
- Enter your log in details.
- Click 'Order history'.
- Select the relevant order by clicking 'View'.
- Right click on 'Download here' , then click 'Save target as' OR 'Save link as'.
I get the message 'Your download link has expired or is not valid'.
The server allows up to 3 download attempts within 48 hours of an order being placed (more than 3 attempts is considered suspicious). If you accidentally exceed your quota, or aren't able to download the documents within 48 hours, please contact us. We will reset your permissions and provide you with full access.
